Spring Update 2026

A Sanctuary, Not a Surgery

The Hallway

It has taken us a little longer than planned to get this Newsletter to you, simply because of the sheer volume of work and news!

  • Since our last letter, we have been busy renovating (again!) and have now finished the whole of the ground floor at Whitland Dental Co. Our website was the first place we could showcase our design plans for WDC, and finally, the interior and exterior of the building match that vision.

  • Our efforts through 2024-2025 have been recognised by several prestigious awarding bodies and we are excited to continue building on this as a team, so we can bring you, our patients, the best treatment journey.

  • We are now actively recruiting for a second Dentist. We will keep you updated via our social media.

  • Dr Davies is currently undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate in Sleep Medicine. Sleep Apnoea affects about 30% of the population and many people live with this debilitating condition, undiagnosed for years. If you wake up feeling tired, have fluctuating blood pressure, have had or currently have heart problems and have worn teeth, a simple sleep test could help diagnose and improve both your sleep and other related conditions.

Accolades

Private Dentistry Awards 2025 - Mayfair, London

  • In November 2025, we were thrilled to attend the Private Dentistry Awards, as our Practice Manager Rhydian was a finalist for Practice Manager of the Year. This was a huge honour for our team and Rhydian, as after less than two years on this new career path, he was recognised as one of the best practice managers in the country.

  • Also, in November 2025, we were accredited by Denplan as a Denplan Excel Practice. This means that we have been recognised by them as outstanding and we are proud to be one of only 400 practices in the country with such an accreditation.

  • On 12th January 2026, we were awarded the Dental Phobia Certification. We are the 4th Dental Practice in Wales and the only one in South West Wales to meet the criteria. Our interior design, our non-conveyor belt appointment structure and our holistic offerings, such as Dental Acupuncture, all contributed to us achieving this recognition.

  • Finally, in early January 2026, Dr Davies and Mr Davies were shortlisted as finalists in the Business Growth Wales Awards, which will take place at the end of March 2026. Wish us luck!

Renovation of the Ground Floor

Surgery 2

  • Surgery 2 and the corridor are now complete! The back Surgery was stripped completely and fitted to the standard of Surgery 1. Although it may take time, we are actively recruiting another dentist that shares our passion for high quality work and an excellent patient journey.

  • The corridor has also been upgraded because damage from the flood in the 1980’s was starting to take a toll. Rotten exterior door frames, gaps causing the corridor to be cold in winter and a large subsidence in the floor were very concerning. The front side door and the back door have been replaced. The hallway floor was screeded and relaid, and all the walls were stripped, skimmed and now feature a mural.

  • We also invested in a 3D scanner for our lab work in the last quarter of 2025. This has revolutionised the way we work as it prevents analogue material shrinkage, lowers our carbon footprint (minimal outgoing post) and improves fit and function with 3D printing technology. In October Dr Davies visited our lab in Bolton to experience first hand the quality and investment in technology that Swift Dental are providing.

Notice Board

  • Please note that when leaving the surgery corridor you will need to press the switch on the left hand side that says ‘PRESS TO EXIT’.

  • We now offer a 3rd Denplan Child category: 16-18. This means that your child can stay on the all-inclusive plan for 2 more years!

  • Our Trainee Nurse Miss Hannah Greenough has successfully enrolled on the NEBDN course, and is well on her way to becoming a registered nurse.

  • We’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new Registered Nurse Mr Alexander Schofield and to our new Trainee Nurse Miss Gracie Rogers.
