Dentistry will never been Green. But here at Whitland Dental Co, we do what we can, where we can, to be Greener.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

  • We sterilise and reuse our tools

  • We segregate our waste to recycle as much as possible

  • We sharpen or repair instruments where possible

  • We regularly review our stock to prevent expiry or wastage

  • We look to limit single use items if there is a multi use alternative

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

  • We use sugar cane toilet paper and paper towels

  • We have air purifying plants and extraction fans installed

  • We choose high quality, long lasting materials like metal, glass and hard plastics

  • Rhydian our PM is our ‘sustainability champion’ and has had special training via Denplan

DIGITAL DENTISTRY

  • We scan our laboratory work and send it digitally

  • We use email, texts and calls to manage our diary

  • Our staff use iPad’s instead of paper for logging our work

  • We practice preventative dentistry and try to educate our patients as much as possible

TRAVEL

  • Rather than moving premises, we have restored the building using mostly local tradesmen

  • Our staff live locally so travel is reasonable

  • We are conveniently situated near a train station and local bus routes

  • Most of our CPD is digital which prevents excessive travel 

WATER CONSERVATION

  • We use a vacuum autoclave that reduces our water consumption by up to 85% when sterilising instruments

  • The autoclave also safely reuses water that day

  • Our new dental chairs have been programmed to use water more efficiently so flushing the lines take less time and less water

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

  • We use LED lighting that works on a Passive infrared sensor (PIR) system in areas that are not in constant use

  • We have checked and our energy suppliers are using Green energy where possible

  • The Surgeries, Patient Lounge and Reception lights are LEDs with A+ rated bulbs
