The Patient Lounge
What has changed?
We had our HIW (Health Inspectorate Wales) inspection in March. Their report was published on 18th June 2025 and can be read here. We are very proud of the work the team has achieved in order to reach these standards, and so pleased to be recognised and praised like this by the HIW.
We have upgraded our internet and phone system. We now have call waiting, a system with options and time-dependant voicemail messages. This has enabled us to streamline calls and make our communications more efficient. Please be aware that all calls are recorded.
We have just finished our patient lounge. We wanted our patients to feel welcome and relaxed whilst they wait to be seen so renovating our old reception area was a priority. The response so far has been excellent and our team are so pleased. The work was done for you, by members of the local community. Please see below for details.
We released our Patient information Book via email - you can also find it on our website under the heading ‘Practice Information’ and ‘Patient Information’. The hard copy can be found on the coffee table in our Patient Lounge.
We have had some staff changes over the last year and we’d like to introduce you to some new faces: Hannah Greenough, Jessica Woodall and Elen Lewis. Our girls are going to become qualified Dental Nurses and they rotate between the Surgery, the Decontamination Room and our Treatment Coordination Room. What’s Next?
We are now looking at capacity and treatment waiting times. Whilst Surgery 2 isn’t currently fit for purpose, we are working on plans to renovate it to the standard of Surgery 1 and then hiring an Associate Dentist. It is difficult to place an exact timeline on this, but we will keep you informed.
Notice Board
There has been some concern over the iPad in reception. As you can see from the photo above, we have the same number of staff we started with. We operate in a way that maximises efficiency, but also staff well being. Dentistry has one of the highest staff turnovers in healthcare and we wanted to create an environment where patient care is paramount, but staff also thrive. Having the staff work upstairs as a team has encouraged team bonding, shared productivity and a jolly atmosphere.
Whilst the majority of the team work upstairs, our CCTV and check-in apparatus work seamlessly and there is always someone available to come down to the Patient Lounge if you need help. Please click the iPad, sign in, and choose the option ‘Help’.
